Abstract:
Introduction: A consequence of the development of cancer cells is the neoplastic
wound, which originates from the infiltration of malignant cells into the dermis. These
lesions affect between 5% and 10% of cancer patients. Objective: To conduct a study
on the role of nursing in the management of neoplastic wounds during oncological
treatment. Methods: Qualitative research with an integrative literature review,
conducted in Google Scholar, using the descriptors: “Neoplastic Wound”, “Nursing
Care”, and “Oncology”. The final sample consisted of 13 articles published between
2016 and 2023. Results: Articles on the following topics were analyzed: Nursing carefor neoplastic wounds; Humanized care for cancer patients; Palliative treatment of
neoplastic wounds. Final considerations: Nursing care for cancer patients with
neoplastic wounds is essential to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. In
addition to technical knowledge, it is essential to develop a relationship of trust with the
patient, ensuring adherence to treatment. Nurses provide dignity, comfort and
emotional support throughout the oncological process.
