Abstract:
Introduction: This study sought to investigate Diabetes Mellitus (DM), highlighting the
importance of the nursing team in preventing and treating this clinical condition, with a
special focus on the diabetic foot, one of the chronic complications of the disease. Aim:
To investigate the importance of the holistic nursing approach in the care of patients
with diabetic foot. Methodology: A bibliographical survey was carried out, analyzing
scientific articles on nursing care for patients with diabetic feet. The databases investigated were: SciElo, BVS, and PubMed, with the Results: 21 scientific articles were
analyzed, which explained and highlighted the importance of the nursing team in the
prevention, treatment and monitoring of the diabetic foot. In addition, they highlighted
the importance of the nursing professional in the process of diagnosis, education, and
patient guidance. Conclusion: It was clear that the nursing team's intervention is
essential to help patients with their various difficulties, especially regarding educating
them about their condition and how to clean the area so that symptoms don't worsen
and cause more problems.
