Abstract:
Family farming is fundamental for Brazil's economic and social development,
accounting for a significant portion of food production and employment in rural areas.
However, family farmers face challenges, such as limited access to information and
technical assistance, which compromise their competitiveness and development. This
article aims to investigate perceptions regarding the relationship between family
farming and public policies, analyzing how programs like PRONAF, PAA, and PNAE
can be improved to meet the needs of this sector. To achieve this, an integrative
literature review methodology was adopted, with a survey conducted in databases
such as SCIELO and Google Scholar, focusing on articles published between 2020
and 2024. The results indicate advancements and setbacks in support policies,
revealing an urgent need for improvements in the dissemination and access to these programs. The analyzed studies highlight the importance of cooperatives in increasing
income and access to essential services, as well as the need for a deeper
understanding of the social dynamics of family farmers. The research concludes that a
favorable institutional environment, which considers the specificities of family farmers
and promotes their active participation in public policies, is essential for ensuring a
fairer and more sustainable rural development. Thus, a more proactive approach from
technical assistance entities and the Ministry of Agriculture is recommended to
promote an equitable and effective distribution of resources, maximizing the benefits of
public policies for family farming.
