Abstract:
This dissertation is inserted in the line of research, Education, Institutions and
Educational Policies (EIPE) of the Graduate Program in Education (Stricto Sensu) of
the Faculty of Inhumas - FacMais and addresses the theme Environmental Education
in municipal public schools in Goiânia. This topic is considered relevant in view of the
seriousness of the environmental situation around the world, making the treatment of
environmental issues at all stages of education indisputable. Thus, the general
objective of this study is to verify the legal and pedagogical aspects involving
Environmental Education in the Pedagogical Political Projects of schools in the
Municipal Education Network of Goiânia. The specific objectives are: to address the
historical aspects of the formation of international environmental regimes and the
regulation of Environmental Education in Brazil; to systematize discussions around
Environmental Education and sustainability in Brazilian education, based on official
documents, such as the National Curriculum Parameters and the National Curriculum
Guidelines for Environmental Education; and to highlight the importance of the
presence of Environmental Education in the curriculum, considering the conceptions
about this practice present in the Pedagogical Political Projects of some teaching
institutions in the municipal public network of Goiânia. Therefore, a bibliographic and
documentary research was carried out, with an exploratory and descriptive character.
For the theoretical foundation, researchers and scholars on the subject were taken as
a basis: Sorrentino (2009) Dias (2013), Cascino (2000), Rodrigues (2010),
Guimaraes (2010), Queiroz (2013), Loureiro (2008). In addition, some legal
documents that govern Brazilian education were explored, such as the PCNs and
DCNEAs still, the analysis of the Pedagogical Political Projects of five schools of the
Municipal Education Network of Goiânia was carried out, in order to verify if these
documents include projects and actions aimed at Environmental Education. It was
found that Environmental Education has been working with elementary school
students from municipal public schools in Goiânia. However, it appears as a theme or
project that is exhausted in the developed activity. Thus, there is a need for
integration between the curricular components, in order to supply basic pedagogical
questions on the subject, developing them in a collective and interdisciplinary way.
There is a clear need for collective and articulated planning for the development of
activities aimed at everyday environmental pedagogical practices.
